If you’re new to JRNY and are wondering “What now?”, we’d love to meet you at our next Welcome to Church Night! We believe God wants to change the world through you, and we would love to show you how. If you have kids, the night is designed with them in mind as well! We have fun activities, games, and lessons provided for ages 0-12.
The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Jesus Christ. Making a decision to follow Jesus when no one is looking is significant, but there’s something powerful about publicly declaring, in front of family and friends, that you’ve given your life to Christ. To get more information, begin our Bible Plan and read our FAQ. Both will walk you through what the Bible says about baptism as a Next Step for a believer!
It illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection: “Christ died for our sins…He was buried…and He rose again.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
It illustrates my new life as a Christian: “When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
To follow the example of Jesus: “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.” (Mark 1:9)
Because Jesus commanded it: “Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you.'” (Matthew 28:19-20)
The New Testament shows no example of baptism when the person did not request it. All instances of baptism followed an individual’s decision to trust Jesus alone for their salvation (Acts 2:41; 8:12; 10:47-48). At Journey, we wait until the child is old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. When a child makes the decision for Christ, we gladly baptize them into the Christian faith. We also believe that if you have not experienced adult baptism, even though you have experienced baptism as an infant, the full meaning and significance of baptism has yet to take place in your life. We strongly encourage you to be baptized as an adult believer!
Because Jesus was baptized that way: “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” (Matthew 3:16)
Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion: “…both Philip and the man went down into the water and Philip baptized him…” (Acts 8:38-39)
The word “baptize” means “to dip under water”
Every person who has believed in Jesus Christ. A believer is someone who has realized that their sin has separated them from God. They have given up all efforts to reach God through good works or religious activity. They have concluded that Jesus’ death on the cross for their sins is the only thing that can bridge the gap between them and God. A believer is someone who has decided to trust Christ alone for their salvation. If you have come to that point in your spiritual journey, then you are ready to be baptized! (Acts 2:41; 8:12-13)

Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. He came to serve, not to be served. As His followers, we know we’ve been called to do the same. In a culture that is plagued with consumerism, we believe that when we give our life away, we actually find life. Read more HERE to hear more about what the Bible says about serving.
We want to stay organized and efficient with every teammate who joins the team! One way that we do this is by using a service called Planning Center. When you sign-up to serve, an account will be created for you based on the email you provide to us – your leader will walk you through the details. Download the App HERE!
Looking for a way to meet new people at JRNY? Join a JRNY Home Group to reflect on God’s word, encourage each other towards next steps in your relationship with Jesus, and be a part of each other’s lives. When we ask God to grow our church, we know that it will always require more sacrifice, more pain, more hardship, and more growth. So as our church continues to become more impactful in our area, our need for community grows as well!
If you’re between the ages of 12-18, we encourage you to join a Teen Group! You’ll find encouragement, laughter, and friendships that will ultimately lead you closer to Jesus!
People can feel intimidated when coming to church for the first time. We love to make JRNY the exception to that rule. Our host team does this by directing guests to a parking spot, showing them where to go, and directing them to their seat. Our goal is to treat our guests the way God feels about them!
Our safety teammates work hard to ensure the safety of our families on Sunday mornings. By providing peace of mind, they allow all our teammates to create the best experience for our guests. We only have one question: will you protect this house?
JRNY Kids isn’t babysitting, it’s World Changing! We believe that kids can change the world. We’ve seen first hand how capable they are to use the lessons we teach them to impact their friends and families. That’s why we do our best to create a fun, interactive learning environment!
Have more flexibility to serve during the earlier part of Sunday mornings? Or you’re not available to serve during the different experiences? Pre-Experience Childcare is for you! You would be a part of the early-morning crew and help kick-start the day. This team arrives before the experiences begin to care for the children of set-up teammates!
Across all of our campuses, musicians and vocalists serve God by using their talents and abilities to create an atmosphere of worship on Sunday mornings. Production Teammates run cameras, lights, video switchers, and audio to ensure that every person who attends on Sunday or watches online has the best experience possible.
*PLEASE NOTE: this team includes a Wednesday evening rehearsal on weeks that you serve
