STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF

FAQ

It illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection: “Christ died for our sins…He was buried…and He rose again.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4

It illustrates my new life as a Christian: “When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17

As soon as you have believed. Acts 8:12 says, “But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the names of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.”

To follow the example of Jesus: “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.” (Mark 1:9

Because Jesus commanded it: “Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you.'” (Matthew 28:19-20

Because Jesus was baptized that way: “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” (Matthew 3:16

Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion: “…both Philip and the man went down into the water and Philip baptized him…” (Acts 8:38-39

The word “baptize” means “to dip under water”

The New Testament shows no example of baptism when the person did not request it. All instances of baptism followed an individual’s decision to trust Jesus alone for their salvation (Acts 2:418:1210:47-48). At Journey, we wait until the child is old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. When a child makes the decision for Christ, we gladly baptize them into the Christian faith. We also believe that if you have not experienced adult baptism, even though you have experienced baptism as an infant, the full meaning and significance of baptism has yet to take place in your life. We strongly encourage you to be baptized as an adult believer!

Every person who has believed in Jesus Christ. A believer is someone who has realized that their sin has separated them from God. They have given up all efforts to reach God through good works or religious activity. They have concluded that Jesus’ death on the cross for their sins is the only thing that can bridge the gap between them and God. A believer is someone who has decided to trust Christ alone for their salvation. If you have come to that point in your spiritual journey, then you are ready to be baptized! (Acts 2:41; 8:12-13)

HOW CHECK IN WORKS

Every Sunday, you will check your child in at one of our check-in kiosks. You and your child will be given matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will wear a name tag while you keep a matching security tag.

After the experience, you will return to the JRNY Kids area and present your tag to a security teammate for them to match your tags and release your child back to you. A security teammate will never release your child to anyone without the correct, matching tag.

In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we will send you a text message using the number you provided to us upon check-in. Please keep your phone on vibrate so that you will be aware if you’re needed! We ask that you exit the auditorium immediately and proceed to the check-in desk to meet our JRNY Kids teammate who will fill you in.

MARCH 12, 2020

Good Afternoon JRNY Church –

In the wake of Covid-19 circulating our area quickly, we are adhering to government recommendations and will not be having any church experiences for the next two weeks. You will still be able to catch a live experience through our social media outlets as Pastor Steve and a small amount of staff will still be leading us in worship and preaching at 10A on 3.15 + 3.22. For those with children, we will also provide a link to access materials for the kids’ Bible lessons and crafts.

We are obviously disappointed by the circumstances, but want to do our part to help stop the spread of this virus quickly, so we can soon resume normal activity. We will keep you posted about what will take place after the 22nd as we continue to stay advised.

Let’s continue to pray for our nation and its leaders as they navigate through difficult decisions. We encourage you to follow the recommended precautions to help see us through to the other side of this pandemic.  Let’s all work together to get through this. Remember that our hope and trust is in Him and we do not have to live in fear.

We’ll see you Sunday 10A on Facebook Live!

Take Care,

JRNY STAFF

MARCH 16, 2020

Hi, JRNY Church Family!

Life continues to be impacted in so many ways because of the spread of Covid-19. With so much of everyday life being impacted we believe that now, more than ever, the church needs to rise up. We believe that every obstacle also brings an opportunity! We know the church is much bigger than it’s buildings and we see opportunity everywhere we look.

This past Sunday, we hosted our first ever “strictly” online experience and as of now, there have been over 8,000 views! What’s even more exciting than the amount of views and interaction is the fact that 4 people responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ during our time together online!

At this time, when it would be easy for us to let fear cause us to hold tightly to what we have, we are going to live up to our core value of being a church of contributors, through our actions. We want to help those in need around us and have set up the 245 Fund for this purpose. In the book of Acts, when the early church came under hardship, it forced the spread of the gospel through their movement and actions. We believe we also have the opportunity to further the gospel through our actions during this difficult time. If you would like to give so that those in need may have essentials to get them through this time until work picks back up, you can do so by clicking HERE then choose “245 Fund” from the dropdown menu.

Also, be on the lookout this week and the weeks ahead on our social media platforms for continued resources to help you get through your week! Things like, live mid-week worship times together, JRNY Kids fort making adventures, motivational moments powered by God’s word, and more.

We are working hard during this time to remain connected as a church so we can continue to be THE CHURCH to the world around us! There is an opportunity tucked within the disruptions and dismay, let’s seize it and go change the world!

THE 245 FUND

As we continue to face the spread of the Covid-19 virus, we as a church have the opportunity to be the light in a dark and uncertain world. In Acts 2:45, the early church set for us an example on how to come together to share the Gospel and meet needs during difficult times through their actions and with their resources. Now, we desire to do the same! If you would like to financially help those directly affected by Covid-19, or if you or someone you know has been affected and could use some help follow this LINK!

Let’s be the church!

MARCH 23, 2020

Hey, JRNY Church –

We just wanted to check in and give you a couple updates this week. The 245 Fund, that many of you have given to, has already enabled JRNY to meet the critical needs of families across our community, and we are continuing to meet additional needs as we hear of them. This church has stepped up and continued to give in spite of the unknowns surrounding us. We are so extremely proud, but even more thankful to God, because we know it’s your growth and trust in Him, that allows you to live your life in this way.

The restrictions put in place, have allowed us the opportunity to engage in new ways online, with the world around us. Our content has seen four times the amount of views that it normally does in a week, and six people have let us know they have given their lives to Jesus. We’ve also had several others let us know, through our online info card, that they are exploring what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. We’ve then been able to follow up with conversations and resources to help them better understand the love of God and what a relationship with Him can be.

Many are searching frantically for truth and stability in this time. Just in our office alone, we have friends and family of staff members,, who have been prayed over for years, that are now asking questions about God, tuning in to our live experiences, and seeking to know truth and peace. We are certain you are seeing the same thing, and just like Steve said on Sunday, let’s not live scared, but scatter as a church. With that said, ‘Let’s Go, Bring ‘em Home!’

We anxiously await the day we are able to meet again in our church buildings, but until then, we love you, we are praying over your families, and we encourage you to remain connected with our church family online.

Much Love,

JRNY STAFF

APRIL 8, 2020

Hello, JRNY Church!

First thing out of the gate, we want to tell you how much we miss you guys.  We miss seeing you, laughing with you, and worshiping God together in person with you! We are incredibly thankful that technology has allowed us the opportunity to still remain united together virtually, yet we have realized even more, nothing compensates for our time together on Sundays. Physically seeing each other face to face and serving together to see His name made famous is something we can’t wait to do again, hopefully soon!

While we are still unsure of what life will look like after April 30th, we are hopeful some forms of normal activity can resume, given the governing officials deem it safe to do so.  That said, we figure meeting in larger groups will still be prohibited for a while, so we are working to figure out a plan to meet in smaller groups for church online and using that as a platform to gradually ramp back up to normal operations JRNY style! We will keep you in the loop with those details to come.

Next, a quick update on the 245 Fund.  JRNY has raised over $31,000, and because of this generosity, we have been able to continue to meet the needs of single moms, families with both spouses out of work, and communities of people with unprivileged conditions. This week we were able to provide candy stuffed Easter eggs to one of our community partners so that residents there could enjoy an egg hunt with their children! We also sent $5,000 to the Philly Dream Center which enabled them to provide meals for hungry children all over the city!  We are continuing to help those in need and are currently looking to provide Dunkin/WaWa gift cards for the incredible caregivers working to save lives at local hospitals. We are so proud of this church for living out who we say we are and letting our reputation precede us, let’s keep pointing people to HIM!

Lastly, Easter’s coming! Whether or not we can meet in person to celebrate, doesn’t lessen the significance of Jesus’ resurrection.  In fact, living in this time has allowed us the opportunity to experience what the power of His raised life means for us. His blood covered our sin and made a way for us to live in freedom from the fear of death and destruction.  We now live with a HOPE that’s undercurrents of peace stabilize us in the midst of the storm. We look forward to joining together this Easter Sunday with you as Steve preaches about this message of hope. Things may feel a little different this year for all of us, but we believe that the current circumstances didn’t catch God off guard. In fact this is the breeding ground for His power being displayed, miracles taking place, and the saving of many lives that otherwise may never happen.

So please join us and use the digital invites provided on our social platforms to invite friends and family to tune in as well.  HERE is a link for different invite downloads that you can use! Let’s all be in prayer that many experience the power of God through their TV or mobile device this weekend, and as a result give their lives to Christ!

We love you all, see you live online Sunday morning!

APRIL 23RD

Hey, JRNY Church!

What a ride this has been the past six weeks. We’re sure, just like us, you have experienced some highs and lows, some twists and turns, and yet unmistakably God has been near to us, gently teaching and guiding us through every step. Let’s be mindful that every obstacle this season has brought us, is actually a disguised opportunity to innovate, evaluate, and activate our lives.

Innovate and create new mindsets both personally and professionally due to the boundaries and restrictions placed on us. Evaluate, because without the added distractions or typically tireless schedules outside the home, there has been a margin of time, allowing us to see places in ourselves as well as or our families that need attention. And finally, we can activate change so our lives flourish moving forward. Maybe forgotten priorities or routines once important to us, yet somehow lost in the busyness, are now clearly pulling at our heartstrings to be reestablished. This weight of hardship, if we allow it, can be what drives us to our most fulfilled lives. Let’s lean into it!

An update on the 245 Fund – Steve said on Sunday, we’ve had over $40,000 given so far! Again, we couldn’t be prouder of a church who gives and sacrifices to see the needs of others being met. This past week as Steve mentioned we helped with laptops for kids so they could sustain their education, continued to help those in need of essential items, and aided two families with the cost of unexpected house repairs. It has been amazing to see what God can do as we come together and faithfully give!

Moving forward, it looks like May 8th is potentially the date our state will begin the ease of restrictions. However for the church, it’s looking like it may still be awhile until we are able to meet again at our campuses. In the meantime, we want to encourage you to join a virtual home group if you haven’t yet. It’s been pretty cool to hear how some are even finding this avenue has enhanced their home group experience! Once restrictions do ease and they start allowing gatherings of certain numbers, we are encouraging you to host small house watch parties in your home, as an initial phase, helping us ease back into JRNY Church meeting at all of our campuses. We will be in touch in the coming weeks as details emerge.

We as a staff love and miss you all immensely. You are still in our prayers, and we are here if you need anything, please let us know!

Love,

-JRNY STAFF
